Kirk Cousins, My Theory

The Redskins are crazy not to sign Kirk Cousins long term. It doesn't really matter what it costs.

I read Cousins like this. He's a multimillionaire. Youngish, good looking. He married his girlfriend. He didn't have to do that. He's a bible believer. A conservative. Very articulate. At least reasonably intelligent. He prepares carefully. He famously plotted or plots out his life fifteen minutes at a time. He calls people who have already gone through what he's going to experience in order to hear their lessons first hand.

This is who he is. I believe he wants a commitment from the Redskins for the long term. I believe he sees the QB position as the sort of queen, and he wants a legitimate contract 'marriage.' I believe this will stabilize him mentally. It fits with how he thinks. It will put him in best psychological position to succeed. He has shown he has the physical ability to pass for lots of yards. He has also shown some weakness under pressure.

The Skins should bet on him. It's likelier he has a mental upside unyet revealed, a higher ceiling than he has shown, than that they can find someone better to play QB for the next five years. Now is the time for the redskins to commit to Kirk Cousins.
